I was surfing the Facebook.com network and found out that one of my sister-in-laws' birthday was happing today.  I really did not want to just leave a Happy Birthday message, like unto all others.

So, started looking through my images and found the image below.  In the image we see a lion roaring in frustration to all the zoo goers.  I really did not want the fence in the back or the blue ball in the image.  To remove these items from the image, I zoomed in on the lion.  I made sure that his tail stayed in the image and that his eyes were in the right, upper 1/3 of the image.  Putting his eyes in the upper 1/3 of the image we get the feel that he is looking down at us.

I also pondered about the day that the image was taken.  It was a cloudy day, so I had bumped up the ISO to 400.  This would allow me to keep my shutter speed around 1/250sec when taking pictures of the animals at the zoo.

To finish of this image I added the needed words and a small pun "Have a roaring good time."

Sit, sit , sit.

Sometimes you have to sit and wait.  Then you see the shot you want and you miss it.  How frustrating this can be for a photographer.  And I can tell you that getting this shot was frustrating.

When I had my camera ready for the shot the otters stayed away and I saw no action, but when I pulled my camera down is when they would come out.  So to get this shot I had to pull out my camera in the middle of their play and hope that I get a good shot before they run off again from seeing a camera.

I hope you like this image.

Glasses, Glasses everywhere

There are many things in this world that we can take a look at. In this post, I will be looking at a few perspectives of eye glasses. In the photo above I took a picture of a pair of glasses on top of a dictionary. Within this image, you can see that glasses are sitting above the definition of glasses. I thought this would be a nice little addition to the image.

After looking at the image, I thought that it was not enough for this image, so I pondered what I could do to improve the image. I finally came up with adding a reflection of the image within the glass lenses. This editing gave the image the final zing that I was looking for.

In the image above, I wanted only part of the glasses to be in focus. The story line that I was looking for in this image was, after studying about glasses in the dictionary thing became out of focus for me.

In the image above, I took my daughters teddy bear and placed the glasses on her. I looked at several different angles on how to capture this image. I decided on a close-up image, with the camera below the teddy bear was the best angle to take the shot. Taking a look at everyday objects in a different light can create the story that we are looking for in our lives.
